Fulfilling commitments to the state, the county officials also agreed to spend $48 million on U.S. 281 North from Loop 1604 to Stone Oak Parkway, with $39 million for road improvements and $9 million for right-of-way acquisition for future work to the Comal County line. The 4.1-mile segment from Culebra to Potranco will change the loop from a four-lane divided road to a four-lane expressway, with two-lane frontage roads and new overpasses at Wiseman Boulevard, Military Drive and Potranco, Green said. From Potranco to U.S. 90 — a 4.5 mile stretch — the loop will be improved from a four-lane divided roadway to a four-lane expressway with two-lane frontage roads and new overpasses at Marbach Road and Dove Canyon/Falcon Wolf Road.
